In 1996, we focused on two important product trends. First, to attract
the growing number of consumers interested in sophisticated fashion
sportswear, we brought a more refined attitude to the brand -
particularly in the Fashion groups by using higher quality materials
and elegant styling. Second, in response to the designer-active trend,
we began to produce logo-inspired merchandise that uses one of our best
assets – the Greg Norman Logo(TM) – in interesting ways on exciting
fashion products.
I believe that the increasing variety of our products will drive the
brand. It is the foundation of the business we are building, and we
will continue to invest the necessary time and resources in design and
development. I also believe this versatility positions us to
capitalize on a fundamental cultural shift: the blurring of fashion
lines as the definition of "acceptable dress" in the workplace and on
the weekend continues to evolve, creating new growth opportunities for
our collection.
OPERATIONS
Our operations team and its policies and practices were re-engineered
during 1996 – a natural result of increased demand for our products,
our growing collection orientation and different expectations for
service placed on us by new channels of distribution, particularly
department and specialty stores.
We needed to examine every one of our systems, policies and procedures

level of logistical execution.
We are building a solid team to manage our operations, and we are
satisfied with the initial results. We are particularly pleased with
our performance in 1996 in procurement and inventory management, and
our distribution to retail improved throughout the year.
